Elliot Erwitt
Elliot Erwitt is an American documentary and advertising photographer who is known for his black and white photos of absurd situations in everyday setting.
Elliot Erwitt was mostly known for his ironic photos such as this one of a pregnant woman serving coffee and alcohol. This image was taken by Elliot Erwitt sometime in January 2000 for the Lavazza calendar he made called Families - Ritratti Intorno Al Caffé (which is a coffee company). Also this photo was either taken in Italy or Portugal. I find this photo very ironic but also a great insight in to this woman's life.

There's nothing much to criticize about this image but I dislike the model is looking away from the camera because we cannot see what she is looking at. Another minor criticism is that you can't see the alcohol bottle names which I think would've made the photo better just as a personal preference. Although I have some critiques about this image I would say that overall the lighting, composition and rule of thirds on this image are great.

This photo inspired an idea that I could shoot of my own family drinking alcohol as in my family 5 and up are allowed to drink alcohol with their Christmas meal. Overall I would say that this image is a great documentary and commercial shot. I would also say that this image has helped spark an idea for my own shoot and is a great ironic art piece.
This image is from Elliot Erwitt again, this photo was taken of a man picking his nose whilst a big hand behind him is pointing at him as if to say shame on you. This image was taken in Amsterdam in 1972. Yet again we see Erwitt's sense of humor come out again which makes this a great image. Another advantage is the lighting of the image because it reflects on the window so you can see what the scene around is like. I also like the position of where the camera is because it's very pleasing to the eye. Now if I had one critique about this image it would be that there is something annoying within it, this is that the text above the hand is out of frame.

Now there is text below this out of frame one and it translates to "Entrance around the corner"so this must mean that this is a shop window. I think if Elliot cropped this out of the image it would have made it better because you can see above the text another piece of text. This probably says what shop it is but it is very aggravating to see something going out of shot. That's why I don't like this shot but i'm guessing that he didn't crop anymore because he didn't want to get to close to the gentleman's head. Overall I would say that this image is classic Erwitt and that this is what people expected and still expect now of his work. Although there are some technical issues with it for me I would still say that it is a great shot.
Tony Ray-Jones
Tony Ray-Jones was a street and documentary photographer who died at the early age of 30 before his work got more recognised.

This image was taken by Tony Ray-Jones in 1967, Morecambe on the Beachy Head boat trip. I find this photo beautiful for it's time because it captures the emotions of the young lovers and those around them. I would say I like the focus on this image and how Tony-Ray Jones has centred on this young couple so that the first thing you see is them and the tiny details around them.

Although what I dislike about this image is that the framing for me is not good this is because you see many people out of frame. such as the captains hat and the woman next to the man on the far right. I would say that this image is great because the foreground has many people doing different things and having different emotions. As for the background I enjoy it a lot there's something for me about seeing the sea that makes me feel so calm and relaxed.

I would say this photo inspired me the most because it has many key factors that is included within documentary photography. I want to be able to capture the emotion in the people and scene that Tony Ray-Jones has done here. This photo has definitely inspired me to become a better photographer. Overall I would say that this photo is very well done for it's time and that it is a great picture overall.
The image called Tea. Was also taken by Tony Ray-Jones at London in 1967. This photo is a really eye capturing photo even though it's only of two people having a cup of tea. I like this photo a lot because of the background and foreground. The people are not only interesting to look at but the scenery behind them is very nice and sharp. I also like the little flare of light that it on the left of the photo. Although I like this image very much I dislike the slant that the photo is framed on.

I would say that this image is a very good street photo, that it works very well and that the background is easily distinguishable. Overall I would say that this image is excellent because the foreground and background work very well within one and other.

Martin Parr
Martin Parr is a British documentary photographer, photojournalist and photo book collector who is known for his take on photography by being intimate and satirical with it.

This image is called Anniversary tea and was taken by Martin Parr in Boulderclough Methodist chapel in Calderdale. This is one of many photos published in his book called The Non-Conformists. This photo here was taken between the time of 1975-1980. This photo is very sharp and has a perfect angle in my opinion. I think this is such an interesting angle because it gives you a view that you wouldn't normally see.
Another advantage to this photo is that it has a great foreground and background. The background consists of other guests and the food that they are all eating. The foreground is of what seems to be an older lady from her fashion. She seems to resemble the queen a little which makes the photo all the more a little more special.Although what I dislike about this image is that the woman to the left of her is half out of the frame along with the plates. It's just annoying to see anything chopped off an image but I would say overall this image is very effective and eye catching.

This image is called Redman's factory as you can tell this by the name of the image it was taken in Redman's factory. This was taken between 1975-1980 as this was one of the many images taken and published in Martin Parr's book  The Non-Conformists. I like this photo because it shows an inside to the lives of those who work inside factories. I like the expression on the ladies in the photo because they all look fed up and bored.

Generally when you take photographs of companies the people who work there tend to smile but these woman didn't care. I think this is a great insight into the industry and more photographs should taken similar to this. I like the composition and angle of this image however what I don't like is that the woman in the backs face is blurry apart from that I would say that this image is overall an amazing insight in to the industry.
