Unit 25 Shoot reviews

Shoot reviews
Cookie shoot review
For this first shoot,, I got store bought cookies and a tiny plate. I would say that it was a very successful shoot because I planned it out thoroughly and used my props to their advantages. I also used my camera very well in that I used a variety of light sources and many different angles. If I was to shoot it next time I would probably use some hairspray to make the chocolate chips look fresher.

This image is from my cookie shoot, I used depth of field in this image and I think that I successfully used this technique. For the lighting I used the lighting attachment called a snoot, I like the dramatic effect it gives the image. Although I should've used a reflector on the right side so that I didn't these harsh shadows that you can see. So if I was to shoot this again I would use a reflector to not have any harsh shadows.

This image is also lit with a snoot, I like the detail in this image a lot, although I should've used a reflector so that I didn't get these harsh shadows. As you can see the cookies underneath the top cookie have completely disappeared due to these harsh shadows. I like the angle of this image a lot because it's a unique angle and it works well. However, if I was to shoot this image again I would use a reflector.

Coffee shoot review
For my second shoot, the props I had brought were coffee beans, coffee grinder, mini bag and a big coffee bag. I found coffee to be quite hard to photograph. I think this is because I may have had some incorrect settings for my camera because when editing I saw that my exposures seemed to be way too bright or dark, even when I edited them to my best ability.

Although I found that I had planned a great amount which helped me a lot when taking photos. I brought quite an amount of props which might also have been my downfall. I say this because I found when taking photos I was quite overwhelmed, feeling as if I needed to capture all of them separately and together. However, after doing the shoot, I have found that my photos are great apart from the exposure difficulty I encountered. If I was to do this shoot again I would probably use lesser props and try to get more stuck in with my camera to get those nice coffee bean close ups.

This is one of my favourite images from the coffee shoot, the lighting attachment I used was a soft box with the cove setup. I like this image a lot because of its angle and composition. However, I don't like the focus on this image because it appears to be quite blurry this could be because I have moved when taking the photo or that my camera hasn't been able to focus at this distance. If I was to shoot this image again I would use a tripod and experiment with my focal limits more before taking a shot.
This image is also one of my favourite images from the coffee shoot because it is lit perfectly, has a great concept and is just overall perfectly focused. The only thing that I dislike about this image is that the coffee beans have patches of white spaces in between each bean, If I was to shoot this image again I would put the beans closer together to eliminate this issue.

Fruit shoot review
For the fruit shoot, I found that this was probably the best shoot for me, I had planned for it very well and the props I brought seemed to just fall into place with my plan perfectly. The props I used was a bowl and just the fruit itself. I saw when editing all the pictures seemed to be all perfectly shot although I wish I had experimented with more composition. Although this was a very successful shoot if I were to do it again I would probably bring salad too and see what it's like to shoot it.

This image is my favourite image of all this is because it's so simple and flawless. This is because my composition, focus and angle are all perfect. I used the softbox along with the cove setup to take this image so that my lighting would be softer.

However, if I was to shoot this image again I would make sure that the background is clean because to the left next to the bowl there is a slight black mark which bugs the heck out of me.

This image is my second favourite image as we can see again that the background is dirty however the rest of the image is amazing. I used the cove along with a softbox to take this image as I wanted a softer light.

The focus and composition are great, but the angle is terrible in my opinion so if I was to shoot this again I would change the angle and clean the background.
Bread shoot review
For my last shoot bread seemed to be quite difficult to shoot. This is because bread is really boring to shoot and that you need to make it interesting. I found shooting bread was good although I didn't really plan too well and didn't bring any props. Overall when editing my shots seemed good although had quite an overwhelming orange tint which I managed to edit out to the best of my abilities. If I was to shoot bread again I probably would try to bring more props such as flour, bread knife and maybe a sandwich.
This image is a great image in my opinion because it is perfectly focused and has a great background as well as the foreground. The lighting that I have used was a softbox from above with the cove setup. This lit my shot perfectly as it made all the shadows disappear within the bread.

Another advantage of this image is that the composition and angle are amazing and In my opinion, I would say this is my favourite image from all of my shoots so far. However, if I was to shoot this again I would probably use a reflector because at the bottom of my image you can see a slight shadow forming.

This image is probably my second favourite because of its composition and angle. I used a softbox again with the cove setup.

I love the lighting, angle, composition and focus, however, if I was to take this photo again I would maybe get closer to the subject, also if I was to edit this again I would turn the orange saturation down.
