Unit 25 Final evaluation

Final evaluation For our first task, we had to research studio food photographers in order to take some techniques and learn about studio food photography more. I researched three photographers called Marcus Nilsson, David Munns and Matt Armendariz. What I got from all of those photographers were that simplicity in your photos is the best way to go about it. The next task was primary research where we had to go out and take pictures of food. I chose to go to the Oastler market to take pictures of fruit and vegetables. For this next task, we had to research the two different lighting types which were high key and low key. When researching these lighting types I found that using high key would be a better choice when taking food photographs because it looks like a window like. Unit 25 Exposure meters

Exposure meters  An exposure meter is a device that is used to measure the amount of light to determine a proper exposure. The earliest light meters were called extinction meters and they contained a numbered or lettered row that has natural density filters. This means that when the photographer would meter his subject the filter with the greatest density would still allow incident light to pass through. The letter or number (whatever type of row that you had) would correspond to the filter and this was used as an index into a chart of aperture and shutter speed combinations for a given film speed aka ISO. The only bad thing that occurred with the extinction meters was that they were heavily dependent on the light sensitivity of the human eye, this was bad because this can vary person to person. Unit 33 Evaluation

Evaluation For the brief we were told that we would be doing a double unit which is two units together, the first unit was unit 33: Lens-based image making and the second unit called unit 8: Design principles. Throughout the brief we learnt about wide angle and telephoto lenses and the effects given by them. We then went on to discuss about design principles and how we would apply these principles within our own images. We were then told that our project for this unit is called portrait, the scenario was that we were being commissioned by a Sunday newspaper magazine picture editor to produce a series of portraits. This meant that we had to use the images we would take to create a magazine front cover and double page spread and then design it as well.
