Unit 33 Primary research analysis
The technique I used for this image is called window lighting, I created this by getting my subject to stand within range of a window that had light coming through it. What I like about this image is the white lighting on their face from the early morning. Not only that but the expression of the subjects face, his posture and that he is the only thing in focus.
Although what I dislike about this image is how I not only framed it but the location I shot in this in because of how the light washes out the background but if I was to take this photo again I would've framed it better preferably by using a tripod and I would use a different location to shoot in.
This is my second image which the technique again is window lighting except this photo is landscape instead of portrait. I like this photo because of my subjects expression and the lighting on his face. Although I dislike again how the image is washed out because of the background light. If I was to shoot this again I would use a different location, a tripod and I would improve my shots composition.
In my third image I used a technique called telephoto, for this you either need your kit lens to be on it's longest focal length or even better you can use a telephoto lens on its longest focal length. For my image I used a telephoto lens which seemed to work out best rather than using my kit lens.
What I like about this image is that my two subjects are in focus and the rest of the background is not, I also like the lighting of this image because it is highlighted on both of my subjects faces. What I dislike about this photo is that the framing could've been better. If I was to take this picture again I would have used a tripod.
My fourth image is again telephoto and again I did use my telephoto lens, what I like about this image is that it captures my subject in motion but because I did not have a tripod this meant that I clearly would have camera shake as you can see, another thing I dislike about this image is that the focus is more on the tree than my actual subject.
The technique I used for my fifth image is called wide angle, to create a wide angle shot you must have your lens on it's shortest focal length in order to capture all of your scene and subject. To furthermore create this effect you must get close to your subject and point downwards a little to make the distortion better. I like this image because of the lighting on my subjects face and that my subject looks smaller than she actually is.
Although what I dislike about this image is that the framing could've been better by making my subject go more to the left so that she would have been in the centre of the two bike racks. If I were to shoot this image again I would've gone a little further back and moved my subject more to the left.
For my sixth image I used wide angle again, I like this image a lot because my subject is perfectly in focus, the lighting because it is highlighting my subjects entire face and that you can see his torso and not just his head and shoulders. What I dislike about this image is the location of it, if I was to shoot this again I would've used a better location because the background of this photo looks quite bland and boring. In this image I used a technique called differential focus, I created this effect by using a longer focal length and a wider aperture. Once I focused in on my subject the image only had that subject in focus and the rest of the background out of focus, this is because when using a longer focal length combined with a wider aperture this creates a shallow depth of field.
What I like about this image is the expression of my subjects face and the scene. What I dislike about this image is that my subject is entirely the only thing in focus, the lighting and that the framing.
If i was to shoot this image again I would get closer to my subject, focus entirely on him, frame it better by using a tripod and change the positioning of where my subject stands so that the light doesn't wash out him and the background out.
This final image is also differential focus, I like this photo because the background looks so nice and colourful. Although what I dislike is that my framing isn't entirely straight and my subject is not in focus. If I was to shoot this picture again I would focus on my subject better, use a tripod to frame it better and reduce camera shake.
