Unit 33 The portrait shoot proposal

Proposal 
Shoot 1
For my first shoot I will be taking photos of my friend Jozef. The reason I chose to shoot him is because he is a very talented skateboarder and I know that he will provide some awesome tricks to photograph. What inspired this shoot was a famous skateboard photographer called Joe Brook who has done a lot of Thrasher magazine covers but one of his most recent Thrasher photos inspired me to do this shoot with Joe because of the trick the skateboarder was doing in that picture. Friday 7th October will be the day I shoot this portrait and the location has yet to be determined.

The lenses I will be using for this shoot are my 18-55mm kit lens and my 75-300mm zoom lens and my focal lengths will vary. For this shoot I will be using natural lighting and maybe use a flash if necessary. The equipment I will be using consists of a tripod, flash and triggers. For my images the target audience is for all sexes and ages that enjoy skateboarding.

Shoot 2
For this shoot I will be photographing my boyfriend Patryk with his vape pen. The reason I chose to shoot Patryk with his vape pen is because I know the clouds that he creates with it will make a good picture. The many issues I had with my previous ideas combined with timing caused me to be inspired for this shoot and what also inspired me is that I have never done any photography with smoke before. For this shoot I will be using two lenses firstly my 18-55mm kit lens and secondly 75-300mm zoom lens. The lighting of this image will consist of natural lighting and maybe some artificial lighting depending on whether or not I want to use a flash. My equipment along side my lenses consists of a flash and a pair of triggers. My target audience for the images provided will be over 18's ans all sexes.

Unit 25 Final evaluation

Final evaluation For our first task, we had to research studio food photographers in order to take some techniques and learn about studio food photography more. I researched three photographers called Marcus Nilsson, David Munns and Matt Armendariz. What I got from all of those photographers were that simplicity in your photos is the best way to go about it. The next task was primary research where we had to go out and take pictures of food. I chose to go to the Oastler market to take pictures of fruit and vegetables. For this next task, we had to research the two different lighting types which were high key and low key. When researching these lighting types I found that using high key would be a better choice when taking food photographs because it looks like a window like. Unit 25 Exposure meters

Exposure meters  An exposure meter is a device that is used to measure the amount of light to determine a proper exposure. The earliest light meters were called extinction meters and they contained a numbered or lettered row that has natural density filters. This means that when the photographer would meter his subject the filter with the greatest density would still allow incident light to pass through. The letter or number (whatever type of row that you had) would correspond to the filter and this was used as an index into a chart of aperture and shutter speed combinations for a given film speed aka ISO. The only bad thing that occurred with the extinction meters was that they were heavily dependent on the light sensitivity of the human eye, this was bad because this can vary person to person.
